Who else can offer support?

Becoming a new parent is an exciting time, but it can also be a time of new challenges. Breastfeeding is a skill which a mother and baby need to learn together and sometimes practice is needed before you both become confident with feeding.

New parents at Derriford Hospitals Maternity Unit will be pleased to know that breastfeeding peer supporters visit the unit regularly to offer support and answer questions. They work closely with the midwifery team to ensure that you and your baby get off to the best possible start.

There is DVD titled ‘From Bump to Breastfeeding: following real stories to find out how’, which is given free to pregnant women from their midwife.

This DVD will show parents how to get started breastfeeding and provide practical answers to the common problems. Please click here to view this DVD online.
